We can't wait to show you the hidden gem that is Washpen Falls. Described as ‘a pocket of paradise where moa once roamed’, Washpen Falls is a conservation project that started 80 million years ago with a major volcanic blow.
One hours drive from Christchurch, Washpen Falls offers unique outdoor recreational facilities in a breathtaking natural setting in the midst of a working sheep, cattle and deer farm.
This fascinating walk starts at the Old Washpen Woolshed and takes you through an ancient Volcanic Canyon which is now a reserve filled with lush native bush and wonderful birdlife. This unspoilt area is easily accessed via sympathetically constructed tracks, stairs and board walks.
