Washpen Falls Adventure Walk

This fascinating track starts at Washpen Chalet and takes you through an ancient Volcanic Canyon which is now a reserve filled with lush native bush and wonderful birdlife. This unspoilt area is easily accessed via sympathetically constructed tracks, stairs and board walks. You may be fortunate to see Tom or his workers mustering sheep with well trained dogs.

At the top of the climb you are rewarded with fabulous views across the Canterbury Plains to the sea. As you descend back down the canyon the track takes you alongside sparkling spring-fed creeks and stunning waterfalls, creating the longest tributary of the Hororata river. The track ends beside an idyllic lake, suitable for a row boat or ice skating in the winter and golf chipping with floating balls.

A suitably rustic covered dining area beside the lake blends beautifully with the surroundings. This is an ideal spot for a picnic or morning and afternoon tea. The facility provides a festive atmosphere and makes a wonderful venue for a catered function such as corporate dinners, company Team building, birthdays and anniversaries.

A small maintenance fee is charged for the upkeep of the walking tracks and includes a Track Information Guide and use of walking sticks etc. $10.00 per person / $5.00 per school student.
